The political atmosphere at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) was heated up on Saturday, 17th of March, 2018 as one among the two candidates who vied for the position of Guild President became victorious. Wanduyi Abdulrahman obtained 378 votes which culminated into a percentage of 43.3% whereas Sengendo Sadat Birungi polled 493 total votes hence attaining 56.5%.
The latter was announced winner and therein Guild President elect of IUIU Kampala Campus by the IUIU electoral commission yesterday evening. He is to be sworn in on a date that is yet to be communicated this week.
Who is Sengendo Sadat Birungi?
Sengendo Sadat Birungi is a third year law student at IUIU Kampala campus. He attended Kibuli Secondary School for both is A’ Level and O’ Level. While at the school, he was the Vice Chairperson of the Kibuli Muslim Students Association (KMSA) between 2012 and 2013 and Head boy from the year 2013 to 2014. He has been the speaker of the IUIU Law society before he vied for Guild presidency.
