Today, our reporter from Kyambogo Uni digs deep into the archives of the university convocation to unearth some of the prominent alumni of the second biggest public university in Uganda….and oh boy, the list is quite eyebrow raising.
1. William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope
Born on the 1st of November 1988, Gabula is the reigning King (kyabazinga) of Busoga Kingdom. After doing his A’level at Kyambogo College School, he joined KYU and graduated with a bachelor’s of Arts in economics in the year 2011.
2. Irene Ntale
Born on 30th January 1989, The song bird and guitarist attended Miggade College for her A’level. The former Swangz Avenue songbird would later join the prestigious Kyambogo University graduating with a bachelor’s degree of procurement and logistics- yet, she’s currently doing nothing related to her course as she’s minting from caressing guitars and microphones.
3. Farouk Miya
Also known as “Muyizi Tasubwa ” meaning a hunter who cannot miss, Farouk who was Born on 26th November 1995 is a celebrated international footballer who was previously playing for the Vipers FC after which he moved to Belgian side, Standard Liege . He was pursuing a bachelors course at KYU before putting books on hold to concentrate on his football career.
4. Ahumuza Brian (Abryanz)
Abryanz happens to be one of Uganda’s top most celebrated fashion enthusiasts and stylists. Born November 1,1990 , Ahumuza graduated from KYU in the year 2009 with a major in social works and social administration. He’d later cement his name in the fashion industry after starting Abryanz Collections boutique at Prime Complex that has now turned into a revered brand that organizes annual Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards.
5. Charles Bakkabulindi
He happens to be the current State Minister for Sports in the Ugandan Cabinet. He is also the elected Member of Parliament representing Workers. He attended KYU and graduated with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
6. Rema Namakula
Rema is a Ugandan songstress popular for her songs like Oli wange and Kukaliba. The 27 year old who also happens to be daughter to famous Halimah namakula and wife to eddy Kenzo attended KYU but unfortunately didn’t graduate after failing to balance books and her music career.
7. Fagil Mandy
The former UNEB chairperson happens to be an artist, educationist and an athlete.
The 69 year old Second chance actor happens to be teacher by profession and he attended kyambogo where he attained a diploma in teacher education and later moved to MAK to major in music and theater arts.
The list is endless.
