The moment thousands of applicants have been waiting for is here. The Office of the Academic Registrar at Makerere University has released a fresh batch of admission lists for the 2026/2027 academic year, covering both government-sponsored and self-sponsored (private) schemes.
The release includes candidates admitted under several key categories — and importantly, it also captures appeals and remarked cases, giving students who contested earlier decisions a chance to confirm their status.
Government Sponsorship Lists
Under the government sponsorship arrangement, Makerere has released admission lists for:
- The Talented Sportsmen & Women Scheme, which rewards students who have excelled in sports
- The Disability Scheme, catering to applicants living with disabilities
- The District Quota Scheme, which remains pending verification by the respective districts before admissions are formally confirmed
- Appeals and Remarked Cases, for candidates whose results or admission decisions were reviewed
Applicants admitted under the District Quota Scheme are reminded that their placement is provisional until district authorities complete the required verification process.
Self / Private Sponsorship Lists
On the private sponsorship side, the university has released admission lists for:
- Ugandans with Ugandan Qualifications (Direct Entry / A-Level applicants)
- Ugandans with Foreign Qualifications
- Mature-Age Entry, for applicants who qualified through the mature-age examination route
- Diploma in Performing Arts
- Bachelor of Education (External, Batch 2), including allocated subjects
What This Means for Applicants
For prospective students, this release marks the transition from anxious waiting to concrete next steps. Successful candidates should confirm their names on the relevant list, check the programme and campus they have been admitted to, and begin preparing for registration and — where applicable — accommodation applications.
Students admitted under the District Quota Scheme should stay in close contact with their district authorities to ensure verification is completed without delay, as this is the final hurdle before their admission is confirmed.
And for those who appealed or requested remarks, the appeals and remarked cases list offers the clarity they have been waiting for.
The advice is simple: check the correct list for your category, confirm your details, review the cut-off points, and move quickly on the registration steps that follow.
