Makerere University, through its Gender Mainstreaming Directorate, has announced a fees waiver Scholarship opportunity for first-year female students for the academic year 2024/2025.
The scholarship aims to support bright female students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds to access education at the university.
The scholarship covers tuition and functional fees for the entire duration of the study program for the beneficiaries. The scheme, which was approved by the Makerere University Council in December 2010, now supports up to 40 female students annually.
To be eligible, applicants must be female Ugandan nationals and first-year students admitted to Makerere University Main Campus or Jinja Campus for the academic year 2024/2025 under the Direct Entry Scheme.
Candidates must come from a genuinely disadvantaged socio-economic background and should not have received any other form of sponsorship for university education.
The application forms are available for free at the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate office and on their website. The completed application forms must be submitted by Friday, 16th August 2024, at 5:00 pm.
