Bugema University is set to hold its 27th graduation from 5th to 7th November 2021 at the main campus in Luweero. However, a section of the qualified graduates are unhappy with management’s decision to limit attendance to only post-graduate students.
With the announcement of hosting only Post-graduates (master’s degree Graduates) at the graduation ceremony, hundreds of the other graduates are in confusion after paying graduation fee and other fees charged for graduation.
The bad feeling of not being allowed to attend the event physically hit hard in the undergraduate cohort unlike their counters graduating with masters degrees.
The decision of hosting Post-graduates only physically, came after arguments between Graduating class of 2021, Graduating Class committee and University Board (administration) on how all graduates who are able to show up the Campus on 5th-7th November, 2021.
Given government’s approval to reopen universities for physical lectures, the affected students pleaded with the leaders for a change.
Their suggestion was however denied by the University Administration in the virtual meeting held on 3rd November 2021 implying that only Post graduates with the invitation for 27th Bugema university Graduation are allowed in physical graduation ceremony on Sunday.
