Mubiru Enock Joel stole the spotlight on the second day of Makerere University’s historic 75th graduation ceremony, receiving a prestigious accolade and a cash prize of Shs1 million for his exceptional academic performance.
The Bachelor of Science graduate achieved a remarkable CGPA of 4.91, earning him recognition as the best overall student in sciences during today’s ceremony at the Freedom Square.
This achievement comes as the university continues its week-long celebration of academic excellence, where over 13,662 students are set to graduate.
Mubiru’s accomplishment stands out particularly in a year where approximately 500 students will receive first-class honors, representing about 4.4% of the 11,455 undergraduate degrees to be awarded.
His exceptional CGPA of 4.91 not only earned him financial recognition but also sets a high standard for academic excellence in scientific disciplines at Makerere University.
The recognition of Mubiru’s outstanding performance follows yesterday’s celebration of Mr. Abdul Latif Umar Bagoole, who emerged as the best overall student and best in Humanities with a CGPA of 4.97 in Bachelor of Leisure and Hospitality Management.
The five-day ceremony, which began yesterday with the College of Education and External Studies (CEES), the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS), the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Bio-Security (CoVAB), and the School of Law (SoL) will go on as per the schedule below;
