Makerere University has completed the issuance of all academic transcripts ahead of its 76th graduation ceremony, scheduled to take place from February 24 to 27.
University authorities confirmed that the transcripts have been formally handed over to the respective college registrars, who will in turn issue them to graduating students on the day of their graduation. The move is intended to ensure a smooth and efficient graduation process, allowing graduates to promptly access their academic records.
A total of 8,432 students are expected to graduate during the four-day ceremony. The graduating class comprises 185 PhD candidates, 2,034 Master’s degree graduates, 137 postgraduate diploma recipients, 6,043 Bachelor’s degree graduates, and 33 undergraduate diploma recipients.
The university has encouraged all graduands to liaise closely with their respective colleges for guidance on graduation schedules and procedures, including the collection of transcripts and other academic documents.
This year’s graduation comes amid a reduced number of graduates compared to previous years, a trend university management has attributed to lingering effects of COVID-19 disruptions on the education pipeline.
Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest and largest public institution of higher learning, says it remains committed to maintaining academic excellence and timely service delivery as it prepares to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026.
