Are you bored at your internship place? Don’t worry, it happens! However, instead of rushing for the company coffee every hour and looking around for the best dressed employee, here are a few ways you can make your internship undoubtedly fun.
1. Network- Make friends.
Take advantage of the free time you get by making new friends. Once your tasks are completed, take a stroll around and interact with your temporary co-workers. Build rapport and share some amazing stories, before you know it, you’ll be a star of all the interns taking adorable selfies-every intern in there won’t forget the celeb in you.
2. Share work related ideas
Brilliant interns always speak out what’s on their minds. Have an opinion and don’t be afraid to speak out and share your ideas. Silence has never put food on one’s table. Always research and be a part of the brainstorming sessions. I tell you, once you brainstorm right, you’ll feel you just hit the jackpot.
3. Learn and reflect
Interns are rarely given exhausting unending tasks for good reasons, always reflect upon what you have done. Task your mind to remember and meditate, who knows? You might be told to do that same task-same time next year by your future employer, it’s the reason why you’re interning anyway!
4. Fit in the Colleague party zone
Colleagues usually have those parties they organize as work mates. Get out of the introvert zone and show up with those killer moves at the bar on that chilly Friday night. This will make you belong to the family, enjoy the moment and make internship really memorable. Better yet, go out with your fellow millenials; those interns too can take you places.
5. Adjust your Culture
If you notice things are all different; their lifestyle, dress code, the way they spend their money, how they like their food, their coffee. Well, adjust and fit in for just a little while. Their culture might actually turn out to be enjoyable. To start with, does your dress code match with theirs? C’mon what was the internship money given to you for?
And yes! As you have a little slice of the corporate world as an intern right now. Be reminded that that internship program is your audition to future employers, but that doesn’t mean your current place of work is not already auditioning you as well. Behave!!
