Abubaker Mayanja Hall Of Residence, named after 1st IUIU rector Abubaker K Mayanja, the 10 billion mansion was built using a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), with a holding capacity of 1,104 residents.
A roof to the current Guild President and quite a string of others, it’s the biggest and largest boys hostel at the Islamic University, housing mostly international students and a few lucky ministers.
This 3 floor mansion has 3 blocks (A, B&C) with well furnished rooms, WiFi, a standby generator, water flowing 24/7, a nice view of Mbale town and the Mountain Elgon, a large modern kitchen and a cafeteria. With cubicles, each resident parts with shs375,000 a semester.
Call it the Olympia of IUIU since it’s a house to a multitude of international residents who spend like there’s no tomorrow. Unfortunately loud music and bean is a crime around here, so you won’t be seeing the whore-lympia scenarios but syrups, fights and movies will always save the day around here.
