Stanley Ssempijja, is a graduate of Makerere University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. He secured it this year in January. But even before that, he was already grinding on the streets of Kampala with his business child (growing at a fast rate now) that he named Sage Buyers – an iPhone and related accessories shop.

He opened his shop in 2018, while he was little known then, but as luck may have it – a clap back to socialite Sheila Gashumba went viral and so did his association with the Apple Brand.

The tweet had Sheila Gashumba bragging about her sijui 720P iPhone and in his clap, Stan (as he is fondly known) showed her two 1080P iPhones ruthlessly adding that he bought them himself. Our socialite couldn’t recover, and while she sunk, Stan rose.

They’re friends now.

“I was so passionate about tech (iPhones in particular) and since I had gotten a lot of attention from the internet, I thought this was the best time to start selling genuines iPhones to Ugandans since most dealers were shady.” Ssempijja told Campus Bee.

His mentality of grabbing an opportunity by the horns is what saw off his business and has been able to maintain it big thus far.

“You can’t win if you don’t play, whatever idea you may have. Give it a shot, if it works – thank God. If it doesn’t – it gives you an important lesson to learn.” He added while advising young people and unemployed graduates out there.

Ssempijja attended St Peter’s P/S Nsambya for his Primary Education, the prestigious Kings College Budo for his Secondary Education before joining Makerere University.

Unlike other students that ditch their careers whenever they start making some money elsewhere, he is committed to practice Pharmacy, which he studied. In fact, he will be sitting his PSU preintern exams in December so that he can get a practicing license.

“At sagebuyers, we have the most affordable and reliable iPhones in East Africa. We also have amazing promos where we discount prices for our customers for example the on going Black Friday Offer where we have cut the prices by almost 20%. We also do give aways often to give back to our clients and followers.” Ssempijja said when we asked him what makes his shop different from the others.

He is located at Kooki Towers, Opposite the Central Police Station on Level 5, Room 544. With luck on his side and prayers, his dream to ‘see every Ugandan motivated and inspired enough to be able to own a good smart phone (iPhone)’ is very much alive.
