Daniel Obal, 22, a Law scholar at Makerere University who also holds a diploma in French has officially announced his intentions to run for Ajuri County Parliamentary seat come 2021. Obal has vowed to replace the current MP Hamson Obua whom he believes has misrepresented their constituency.
The ambitious Obal will be running under NRM party who also believes that it is the right time for Obua to leave office.
“I think I will probably be the youngest MP in Uganda. I’m just 22yrs; a Law scholar at Makerere University with diploma in French and other oriental languages, a certificate in political science, organizational management, and trainings in civil service,” Obal said.
Among the things he intends to work on when he takes over office is ensuring that Ajuri voters get government services closer to them. Obal has also highlighted on the exiting problems in his constituency like bad roads and how lack of monitoring of government projects in the district by MP Obua has negatively impacted the lives of Ajuri people.
“Even when am yet to be an MP, I have started the work – written several letters to IGG to investigate corrupt district leaders. To cite, the procurement department of Alebtong district is being administered by corrupt leaders and I have swiftly taken actions and the result is amazing. He (the suspect) had to retch the bribe,” the confident Obal added.
The Makerere Law student has also promised to become a leader of the people whose main focus will be bringing development into everyone’s life without discrimination.
“I want to be a leader for everyone who will deal with development in everyone’s life and society without discrimination or having political mindset. A true leader for true people.” Obal vowed.
