African – American music superstar Akon, who is currently in Uganda for investment negotiations with the government has further revealed more details about the promised Akon City.
Akon, who was promised land by President Museveni to set up Akon City in Uganda has disclosed that he will build four universities, which will be housed in Akon City’s educational district.
According to Akon, the universities will equip Ugandans with knowledge thanks to his partnership with Stanford University, Berlklee University for music, among others. Akon’s plan is to make sure that all necessities required by Ugandans can be accessed within the city.
“We also have the educational district which is the district where we’re putting four universities within the Akon City,” Akon said before adding that “So you have not only law but you have business, IT and you have music. So now you don’t have to fly all the way to United States to university at Berlklee when you can do it here in Uganda,” Akon said.
The four universities will also be open for other close countries like Rwanda, Kenya among others ready to acquire skills, according to Akon.
The ‘Lonely’ hitmaker also revealed that a number of professionals will be brought in Uganda to train locals about several things.
The singer also plans to set up more districts in Akon City like the Medical District, Entertainment District, Business District, Among others.
While explaining about the Medical District, Akon revealed that the idea is to have over 10,000 hospital beds in the mentioned district. Professional music recording and film making will be among the skills focused on in Akon City’s Entertainment District.
