News reaching the hive indicates that the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) is not happy with the recent managerial developments at the Makerere hill.
On Monday June 27th, The Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, suspended three National Unity Platform (NUP) guild aspirants on grounds that they were involved in ‘acts of indiscipline that are in breach of Makerere University Students’ Regulations.’
Various stake holders have come out to condemn ‘this unffair suspension’ and the latest we have got is from the All-Africa Students Union, a union that unites all students across the African continent.
According to a press release from the general secretary of the Union, Peter Kwasi Kodjie released on Tuesday 28th June;
“AASU has noted curiously that Makerere University has been hiding behind illegal laws to suspend students.”
The document further calls upon other students’ unions to stand in solidarity with the suspended students.
The Makerere University Vice Chancellor is yet to comment about the suspension of these candidates. The election process is however in high gear with the Election roadmap already released by the institution’s electoral commission.
