Disgruntled university students around Bushenyi confronted the District headquarters demanding for answers regarding increased deaths of their fellows.
Yet to be identified students allegedly locked up gates to the District offices with banners and placards asking authorities to intervene.
The group comprised students from Valley University of Science And Technology, Kyambogo University Bushenyi learning center, and Kampala International University Western campus.
Two students, one from Valley University and another from Kampala International University (KIU) were killed in a space of three months.
The unfortunate incidents were quite shocking with both occurring under unclear circumstances.
Worse still, fears continue to grow as the district leaders seem to be handling the issue with minimal fuss yet students’ studies are disrupted by insecurity in the area.
“I live in Kitookye cell where our colleague from Kyambogo University learning center was killed in a gruesome manner. Since then, the security operatives have not described the scenarios and given us any hope of security. So, we want them to come up and address this challenge,” one student revealed.
Bushenyi District RDC remains tight-lipped about the issue. However, as of yesterday, business resumed at Bushenyi District Headquarters with the banners brought down.
