It was all drama on Wednesday when angry young people agreed to impeach their National Youth Chairperson, Jacob Eyeru. The incident happened in Ntinda when they turned up to for the annual general meeting ahead of the International Youth Day that is celebrated 12th August every year.
According to reports, Jacob Eyeru didn’t turn up for the meeting, an act that fueled anger amongst the already bitter youngins who were blocked by security operatives from accessing the offices.
The group is accusing Eyeru of embezzling money from President Museveni in addition to his laziness and disrespect. Apparently, Eyeru has done nothing ever since they elected him. After failing to hold their meeting, the group signed a document impeaching Eyeru as they vowed to take it to the President.
According to Gordan Musinguzi, the Nakaseke Youth Chairperson, the annual meeting didn’t take place in 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19. The angry young people claim that there is no clear reason why the meeting didn’t take place before alleging that there is a plan to embezzle money meant for running national activities.
Musinguzi added that they have now resolved to remove the leader and replace him with a more competent fellow, legally.
Following the drama, Police officers stormed the venue and arrested a number of young people. However, city Lawyer Kyeswa Hakim and Gordon Musinguzi pressurized the top CPS leaders to release them on Thursday morning after being charged with inciting violence.
