The Kyandondo East Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has come out to denounce and condemn what he termed as “acts of violence” that the people power supporters at Kyambogo University were subjected to yesterday during the Guild campaigns.
“I want to condemn in the strongest terms the violence meted out on the people power supporters at Kyambogo University by the police and military” Kyagulanyi posted on his Facebook page.
Through the same Facebook post, he expressed alot of disappointment in the police and all the other security forces that were present for not attempting to stop the violence, the selfish acts that transpired that included the National Resistance Movement ( NRM) supporters putting down the posters of People Power aspirants and replacing them with those of the NRM aspirants.
He also noted that instead of apprehending the violent fellows and calming down the situation, the police instead descended on the multitude of people power supporters who were peaceful and tear-gassed, beat them and wounded many leading them to serious injuries where some ended up in different hospitals for immediate attention.
Kyagulanyi concluded saying that it’s very shameful and annoying at the same time and affirmed that regardless of the torture against their supporters, they shall continue to march on and on until victory is won.
Meanwhile, it should be recalled that a couple of days ago, the Dean of Kyambogo University banned using political party symbols during campaigns. Although he did, reports say that this wasnt respected yesterday during the guild campaigns as NRM supporters were seen preceding in yellow with the NRM emblem yet the people power supporters who had red ribbons on were tear gassed and injured.
