It’s the first day of the non teaching staff sit down strike at Kyambogo University. This comes a day after they laid down their tools yesterday evening when they led a procession to the Senate demanding for their salary enhancement and it seems the demonstration was unsuccessful.
Some staff especially the cooking staff decided to initiate their demonstration by refusing to serve students with supper yesterday hence leaving most of them (students) especially those residing in Mandela to sleep hungry.
The situation did not seem any different this morning as various students leaders had to come in and give a hand to those who had gone to get their breakfast.
At the moment, students are stranded in the various dining halls waiting on for probably the students leaders to come and rescue but so far it’s all in vain.
Speaking to Arizona Edgar the chairperson North Hall, he told Campus Bee that if they (student leaders) continue intervening in these issues nothing is going to be done by administration to stop the non teaching staff strikes that have become a song of recent.
“We are not going to involve in the cooking and serving of meals anymore,” he said.
We will keep you posted.
