Ugandans are a generous lot for sure! Today, the charity drive to save cancer patient Carol Atuhirwe culminates with a thanksgiving and dedication service at All Saints Cathedral.
The #SaveCarol campaign team leader, Muhereza Kyamutetera has revealed that Shs324,603,399 has been raised from the charity drive. This is Shs54 million above the estimated need of Shs270 million.
“We are now in final consultations with doctors on the final treatment and travel details as well as final costs. All remaining funds, Atuhirwe Carol has advised be given to UGANDA Cancer Institute,” Muhereza said.
Atuhirwe has been battling throat and lung cancers and has lost her voice and eats through a pipe.
A main car wash was organised at Panamera that raised over shs50m after celebrities and the general public turned up in large numbers. Mini car wash fundraisers then followed in Mbabara and Fortportal to raise funds for Carol.
These fundrasiers haven’t been futile and Carol will soon be cancer free thanks to generous Ugandans.
