Doreen Nyanjura, the Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor has once again been re-elected as LC5 Woman Councillor for Makerere University. Nyanjura, who contested on the FDC ticket defeated his competitors miserably to retain her office.
While speaking to NBS TV shortly after being elected, Nyanjura confessed that she has faced difficulty in reaching the voters as her posters were pulled down every day.
“It has been tough for me, it has been one of the dirtiest campaigns. I would put up posters and by morning, I couldn’t find anything by evening. I am happy that I have made it.” She said.
Nyanjura joins FDC fellow and boss Erias Lukwago who was also re-elected Kampala City Lord Mayor.
Lukwago appointed Nyanjura after his former deputy Sarah Kanyike was nominated and later appointed for the position of Director Gender, Community Service and Production at KCCA by President Museveni.
Nyanjura polled 1559 votes, enough to grant her the win even if her other opponents’ votes were combined to compete with her.
