The American Embassy in Uganda, a representative of the government of the United States in the Pearl of Africa has come out to condemn the Police violence and brutality that was meted out to Makerere University students last week in their halls of residence.

In a press statement, the embassy which represents views of the government of the no nonsense President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has condemned the manner in which members of the security forces handled striking students of Makerere University.

“This heavy-handed response by security forces is uncalled for, and is a direct affront to the freedoms of assembly, speech and expression guaranteed by the constitution of Uganda. We urge the government of Uganda to allow all Ugandans to exercise their basic rights peacefully and without fear.” The Embassy said in a statement.

Last week, Military personnel broke into rooms at Lumumba Hall and Mary Stuart and clobbered students of Makerere University and destroyed property worth millions after the students had finished a whole day protesting against the cumulative tuition increment at the university.
