Silicon Valley tech giant Facebook has moved to delete account of former Makerere Institute of Research (MISR) don, Dr. Stella Nyanzi. The tech giant has restricted the account of the gay rights activist and warned her to desist from posting misleading content against the former presidential candidate Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi.
Dr. Nyanzi’s Facebook account was on Sunday morning flagged as Facebook accused the exiled don of repeated falsehoods against the person of Kyagulanyi.
“Your account may be restricted if you violate again,” Facebook indicated in a notice.
Facebook jail can last anywhere from a few days to indefinite suspension.
Facebook normally blocks crooks due to the violation of community terms.
This Facebook verdict comes after a series of reports from Nyanzi’s followers who deemed her psychologically unfit to sit on the keyboard and make posts.u
It is not clear whether Facebook will take more disciplinary measures against her.
She has owned this account for more than 10 years and apparently with over 250,000 followers, she is the most followed Ugandan on a Facebook account, not page.
It should be remembered that earlier on, Facebook deleted accounts of minions of the ruling NRM party.
Bloggers like Ashbag Katto, Olaxes Isma, Full Figure were all rendered redundant after Facebook deleted their accounts which had been reported by NUP supporters.
Stella Nyanzi roars
In Facebook message, Dr. Nyanzi said restricting her Facebook account is fine.
“All the poems from this week are part of my new poetry chap-book entitled “NKT! THE BULLETPROOF CAR”.
Stella Nyanzi fled to Nairobi, Kenya in a self imposed exile after she alleged political persecution.
“My most dangerous weapon is language and words and the intelligence to string up words that provoke a response from a dictator who has pretended to be deaf,” she said in one of her recent post.
