FDC supporters in Makerere have held a miniature demonstration that started from Mitchell hall in Makerere. The procession which was led by the Falcao, one of the most defiant university students and some members of the FDC chapter. The slogans of “Besigye Oyee’, ‘Eh Defiance Oyee’, ‘Museveni Zee’, were being chanted in the early hours of the morning.
The initial movement was blocked by a heavy police deployment and sirens which forced the initial protesters to retreat behind the walls of Mitchell Hall. Entry of the police was denied by the crowding at the gate which the boys tooks as a sign of success and sung the halls’ anthem.
A few minutes later, a small group of about 12 students wearing red gowns started patrolling the streets of Makerere University. They were shouting ‘WeeWee’ in the bid to gain support from other people who support the retired colonel. Unfortunately, most students kept wondering what these people were striking about and only a few joined them in just shouting.
In fact a small group of NRM supporters at Mitchell Hall were heard condemning the acts of defiance and hooliganism since the week has had too many strikes. However despite the large support for FDC around campus this movement hasn’t been successful due to poor timing and bad weather.
