All is set for MUST to start the process of getting new leaders who will steer it over the next one year. Nominations for presidential contenders will kick off on the 13th of April where six are slated to be nominated. Among the aspirants are: Ruhanga Ariho Bob, Akatwijuka Aggrey, Blair Omadi, Eliya Mwesigwa among others.
On 28th March, the guild representative councilors were nominated and those who had advertised already were asked to pay fines. Voting for the GRCs will be on 4th April and then go on to vote the president on 27th of the same month.
“If the population withholds its cooperation, submission and obedience, the process will lose action. I ask all our people to remain strong and vigilant. We shall call for non-violent actions. We may have to make some sacrifices and should be prepared to do so. I am confident that our people’s resolve to have non-violent change of leadership will become a reality,” said Mwesigwa Eliya, one of the guild president aspirants.
The MUST electoral commission has asked students to remain calm and has also promised that the process will be smooth without any challenges..
