Roy Ssemboga, the 82nd Guild president of Makerere University has been arrested in Bugiri with other 15 campaign team members that move with Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine.
According to Bobi Wine, security forces started looking for him as early as 5.30am and later surrounded his hotel in Bugiri. After failing to spot Bobi Wine, the security forces decided to arrest 16 of his colleagues and drove them to an unknown destination.
Among the arrested include, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro (Deputy spokesman DP), Tumuhairwe Denis, Ssenyonjo Sheriff (his personal assistant), Lukwago Ramadhan, Kim XP (the videographer), Tabs Ku Camera, Counsel Ukasha Ssekajja, Ssenyange Joseph, Katongole Julius, Njuba (his driver), Roy Ssemboga(former MAK Guild President), Andrew Natumanya, Sulaiman Kakooza, Kiwanuka Keneth (his sound man), plus two ladies whose names are still unknown.
The group had camped in Bugiri as they prepared to campaign for Asumani Basalirwa whose home was also surrounded by the military during the morning hours.
Rumour has it that Roy Ssemboga is laying a political foundation to contest as the Kawempe Member of Parliament come 2023.
