Makerere University Internet providers and supervisors employed at The Directorate for ICT Support (DICTS) have gone on strike over unpaid salaries

The strike news trickled in this morning after the whole university was disconnected from WiFi and Ethernet cable internet connections.

The university management has not yet come out to give a comment on the matter.

However, student leaders au e already condemning the act, saying it’s only going to affect students most.

“It so unfortunate because this is the time  students need Internet for preparation of exams. Since   the most important stakeholders, students must question the University management, particularly the university secretary as to why they are denying us such a service at this material time,” said Yosam Bagumirabingi, GRC school of engineering.

Bagumirabingi has recommended that an immediate action be taken to resolve this crisis and impasse between DICTS and the university management as soon as possible.
