In a bid to reduce on the government expenditure of constructing new places to act as isolation centers, Makerere University has come up to assist the government by allowing it to use its premises at Kabanyoro Agricultural Centre that is located in Wakiso district.
The facilities that are going to be used comprise of hostels which are to act as isolation centers for people in quarantine of 14 days.
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor permitted the Ministry of Health to use the facilities as long they are to be cleaned during and after use.
“Permission is hereby given for use of the hostel facilities at Kabanyoro by the health ministry for the quarantine program to curb the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19). I trust that you will fulfil your pledge of disinfecting the premises during the period of use and after,’’ Prof Nawangwe revealed.
This comes after when President Museveni had requested some academic institutions to assist the ministry by acting as isolation centers to provide places that are affordable to the people in quarantine since they were spending much in hotels.
