After all that has transpired on Monday, as shown in the earlier article by Campus Bee, students of Gulu University want their guild president (GP), Pastor Joseph Okidi to resign.
To anybody outside there, it would be expected that in a matter concerning University students, the guild leadership would take the front position being spearheaded by the top dog, the Guild President. However, for all media houses that have covered the event, the face of the humorous musician and man of God has hardly been seen anywhere.
Earlier at the start of this fracas police chased students who were shouting in one chorus, “OKIDI SHOULD RESIGN.” They did explain that Okidi had betrayed them at the moment they needed him the most. He chose to side with the administration and let down his voters. (However he says students had threatened to beat him up hence the need to perhaps not appear but behind the curtains fight for their rights).
This would be alleged politics since he didn’t win with 100% support so one may say those were haters. However, in a wry article written by an exasperated Muyanga Mark, an OKIDI die hard, literature would say he sacrificed himself like “Jesus” . CampusBbee is left with nothing but believe the allegations. Back in the days, Mark would lay his life to see Okidi go through as GP. He was hated by the entire university. People spat on seeing him because of the decision he took to support Okidi. In the lecture rooms, he was segregated and looked at as a snake. Today, he joins all those who resented the man of God for guild leadership. He wrote in a lot of anger, lament and ridicule.
*Dear Pastor Joseph Okidi, my former guild president,*
How is your day? I guess it started with you getting a peck from your cute babies followed by a steaming cup of coffee and a nice hug from moma baby. The day of the students, *the students who voted for you*, has started with them getting baptized with _tear gas, desperately drinking gallons of unboiled water to soothe the tear gas irritated throats and running through bushes to avoid getting arrested by police._
If anyone else was to write this, people would say maybe that person is a hater but, its me your brother, _Muyanga Mark_. The Muyanga who stood against his whole faculty to support you. The Muyanga who ignored all ethnic divides with the hope of birthing a revolutionary leadership; *a journey from glory to glory!* ??Pastor, since coming to office,?How many times have you communicated with students overissues that press them? ?When govt students were crying for LA, how many times did u personally pass on any communication? ?When the current saga of postponing exams came up, did u forward any communication as a GP to calm your voters? _Please don’t tell me the PM communicated!_ No student voted the PM.
Each student walked to the polling station and ticked against your name with the hope of getting *service with a personal touch from you!* Your PM has worked ?, your ministers have worked ?
BUT, your silence has let down the students who voted for you with a lot of hope. Daniel 5:27 says you have been weighed and found wanting We as students gave u a chance to lead us. I believed in you! We believed you were the real deal. ☹☹☹ “`You have tried and failed with flying colours. As one of the people who stuck out most for you, I am giving you a chance to withdraw gracefully. *RESIGN*! If you don’t, I will be the first person to sign against the papers that call for your impeachment. “`We are giving u more time for your flock at the church n maybe an opportunity to produce a remix or collabo of YONA LENG“` ☹☹☹
Have a lovely day my *former president*. Say hi to mama baby. ??
Yours in disappointment,
*Muyanga Andrew Mark*
