We are told leadership comes from God and that has kept many believing in their leaders at all stakes of life despite their grievances. Today, Campus Bee brings you a former candidate for Guild Presidency in Gulu University who is keeping us guessing and elevating our moods for the next guild presidential elections 2017/2018.
Mbaziira Daniel is a 4th year student pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and surgery, such a brain dahhh!!!!!!!! Last year, we saw him take a step towards revamping the guild but this was in vain. The race was between four candidates, Pastor Joseph Okidi (incumbent guild president), Mbaziira Daniel, Ojok Moses Walter and Okodi Hebert.
The journey was a hectic one with many teams, slogans as well as promises and at the end of it all Okidi Joseph emerged winner. It has surely been a great year having a pastor as the guild president till when Daniel broke the ground open once again. In fact, he hasn’t let the cat out of the box yet but signs and symptoms are being diagnosed.
He had earlier on drawn the statement at his REVAMP victory party that one of the members would come up and contest to full fill those dreams and aspirations that the team had for the university, “either me or somebody from Revamp will rekindle the fire and see that dream that we all shared at one time come true. In due time, we shall get to know who our candidate will be.” Recently at the BANKOSA victory party he threw yet another comment of the like, “bwekatarigirya…” a saying in Luganda emphasizing one to keep being hopeful. One thing is for sure this is the same thing Bobi Wine said when asked whether he was coming for politics and now he is a swaggerific honourable.
However, one fact is that these are just speculations and when I asked him about the matter he did say; “One thing I wish is to see a better University, a dream shared by every student in this great institution. As per now, I cannot confirm whether I will contest, and in case I don’t contest, I will rally my supporters to back up some body with the same ideology.
I think the performance of this current guild will open up people’s eyes to the kind of Guild President they need. A student oriented leadership is lacking (referring to the dialogue hosted on 27th October) despite the success they have achieved as guild.”
In a nut shell, all this leaves us skeptical and anxious about the next guild elections, but what is more fun than that. Just keep logged to Campus Bee to get the full package.
