Graduates from Gulu University have taken to social media with the hashtag #FreeMyTranscript to howl the delayed release of their academic transcripts saying it is an issue that happens annually and has never been solved by the administration.
According to the former students of the University, the 2018/2019 graduate class have up to now not yet received their transcripts since their graduation which took place in January, this year.
Speaking to Campus Bee, one of the affected graduates who preferred anonymity, revealed that due to this delay, many have missed out on great opportunities to get jobs as the University management has up-to-now never released their transcripts which are very vital in job hunting.
Herbert Amati Asizua, this year’s guild presidential candidate and 3rd year Law student at the same University shared with us his opinion on this whole matter saying, the out-going and past guild leaderships have not done enough to demand for a change.
“In Gulu we have always had this issue of the transcripts. The out-going and past guild leaderships have not done enough to demand for the change” said Amati
“Imagine finishing as early as August, but graduate in January and still have to wait for 5 months or more to get your transcript. However, I think setting an alumni body would do a great job to fix such issues” he added.
Amati promises to bring and implement the change the university has been awaiting for a long time once he is voted as the next guild president.
