Gulu City has been marred by glamour and joy as over 1,500 students received academic awards during Gulu University’s 20th graduation ceremony.
A total of 1,569 graduates took the stage to commemorate their academic achievements, in a ceremony presided over by Ruhakana Rugunda, the University Chancellor and former Prime Minister of Uganda.
Of the total graduates, 906 were male (64.44%) and 663 were female (35.56%).
Two students were recognized as the best undergraduate performers i.e. Kizito Ok, who achieved a CGPA of 4.8, and Susan Safira Ayaa, with a CGPA of 4.67.
The event was also marked by the graduation of four PhD candidates: Dr. Okello Daniel Michael in Agricultural and Applied Biosciences, Dr. Abebua Asaf and Dr. Opio George in Education, and Dr. Alule Rhombe Jimmy in Geography.
Representing the Ministry of Education and Sports, Hon. Mouriku Kaducu, the Minister of State for Primary Health Care, delivered an inspiring message to the graduates, encouraging them to use their knowledge and skills to positively impact their communities.
