Harvan International Institute in Kansanga has announced their campaign to tackle unemployment in Uganda.

Speaking at the launch of their campaign at the Institute premises in Kansanga, Ggaba road, Anita Tumusiime, the Director said that skilling is a crucial part of their comprehensive plan to add job-ready personnel to the job market.

“Since time immemorial, the problem of unemployment among graduates in Uganda has failed to meet a solution. At the very height of unemployment in Uganda, you would expect the Education in higher institution of learning to be the solution. And yet, if the statistics released by the National Planning Authority are anything to go by, it is far from the solution. The NPA statistics show that at least 9 out of every 10 Ugandan graduates are unemployed. The study further indicates that 700,000 people join the job market every year regardless of qualification, but only 90,000 get something to do,” explained Tumusiime.

She added that the ratio demonstrated by the National Planning Authority study translates into 87% of people who are ready to work but can’t find what to do.

“This is mostly because they study, but are not particularly skilled, or don’t possess the array of skillsets that meet the needs of the 21st century job market. We want to bring immense value to the job market. As an institute, we are keen on demonstrating the need for skilling as a catalyst for job creation. This is why Harvan International Institute has opened its doors to not just Ugandans, but to people from all over the world to come and experience a learning environment that enables and values expression, develops talent and individual strengths as a means of creating a quality work force for today’s job market needs,” added Tumusiime.

Harvan International Institute, located in Kansanga, also announced that registration has been opened in a panoply of practical courses like Business Administration, Decoration, Events Management, Photography and videography, Hair Dressing and Cosmetology, Catering and Hotel Management, Diploma and Certificate programs among others.
