As we previously reported last Friday afternoon a Kyambogo university female student known as Naggayi Mary Victoria was attacked and attacked by a one known Mayinja Mohamed severely cutting her on several parts of her body using a shiny new panga he had recently purchased.
Speaking to Campusbee, close sources to both victims who happen to be first year students at Kyambogo doing management science, the two students (who were a couple) decided to open up a joint mobile money business where they would pull resources together for the success of their business.
While speaking to Mayinja who is currently detained at Jinja road police station, he says he decided to divert part of his tuition to invest into the business agreeing that when the right time comes, he will draw out the money and then pay the rest later- as it’s normally and usually done by those few campusers who tend to be “innovative” resorting to vices like betting to multiply the tuition and become billionaires.
Mayinja expected to receive quite an additive amount on top of his capital contribution but to his dismay, things were not going as planned. When the time came to discuss the tuition recovery plan as earlier agreed, Naggayi had allegedly used the money.
The “couple” ran problematic after failing to agree on that fateful Friday afternoon. As the lady decided to get into campus to catch her evening lectures, unknowingly, Mayinja came pursuing her until the Republican Academic Complex (RAC) where they both happen to belong. On realizing she was being pursued, her instincts told her to run to the loos for safety.
Eye witnesses who were around the crime scene say Mayinja who happened to be carrying a black bag (laptop bag) came kindly inquiring from students where Naggayi could be at that particular time and after being directed, he followed Naggayi to the loos where the unfortunate incident happened from. A few minutes later, a bloody Naggayi came out running with Mayinja right behind as he tried eluding from the crime scene hence attracting attention of students and the security personnel who later arrested him.
However, while visiting Mayinja this Tuesday afternoon at Jinja road police station where he remains detained, he told Campusbee that he wasn’t in position to say a lot but he claims he doesn’t know what came over him to do such a thing.
Fortunately, Naggayi who is currently admitted at Nsambya hospital is receiving all necessary and possible treatment and her condition is quite promising at the moment.
