Jonan Mugabi, a Kyambogo University student who is currently awaiting graduation is smiling his way to the bank after starting up his own juice manufacturing company. Dubbed Tuni Juice, Mugabi started producing this tasty juice back in 2018 at Servaite Hostel in his second year.
A year later, he was joined by his friends only identified as Cathy, Tasha and Peter who formed a complete team and different skill sets. According to Mugabi, Tuni Juice dramatically took off following his collaboration with his friends.
Mugabi, who was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance told this website that the word Tuni means a shower of happiness while in Acholi it means the female genitals. The hilarious word has reportedly helped him secure customers who cannot get enough of Tuni Juice.
“In high school we had a slag “ka toni” which meant small and for us we being new in the industry we wanted people to simply taste our juice so we arrived at that name Tuni Juice. In the urban dictionary Tuni means a shower of happiness but it so happened that it means female genitals in Acholi.” Mugabi told Campus Bee.
Tuni Juice’s mission is to create great tasting fresh natural juices, cocktails, smoothies and juice bowls aimed at promoting health.
Mugabi further revealed that their premium package comes with a serving team, dispenser, setup and décor and a customized drink for clients who want Tuni Juice on their event. He added that they are currently offering free deliveries in Kampala and Mbarara but transport costs usually depend on the location.
