NBS TV presenter Canary Mugume has decried the discrimination going on amongst pupils over PLE results. His comments follow a submission by the Vision Group CEO, Don Wanyama about the same issue.
Mr Wanyama wrote; “This school had 60 kids sit PLE. All the rest got First Grade except two, who passed in Division Two (these got Aggregate 13 and 15). The school is allover celebrating their “success” and is publishing pictures of the 58 kids minus the two.
Look, schools, this is outright stigma. Just imagine what’s going on the minds of these two kids (whose results aren’t bad by the way), seeing their classmates faces plastered allover except them. Why do we stress this First Grade thing too much?“
Mugume weighed in on the debate saying that; “I’m happy that we are having a convo about our education. I’m a UPE & USE product. I’m happy because free education is the most bashed but God has brought us thus far.
My parents were BROKE so they had no option. I fancied the ‘big’ schools but I now chill with the cool kids.”
