The 2019 Makerere University Guild campaigns began yesterday at Complex Hall ahead of guild elections slated to take place in a few weeks. The campaigns were slightly delayed by the recent academic staff strike, forcing the Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe to postpone the rallies.
The opening rally was held at the university’s Complex Hall where the eleven candidates showed up to unveil their respective manifestos. Unlike the previous years where rallies would go on past 7pm, the Complex Hall rally ended at exactly 7pm before some of the candidates had presented their manifestos.
The rally was partly influenced by the people power wave as some candidates were spotted rocking the pressure group’s attire at the same time flashing a fist in the air.
