The Ministry of Education and Sports through their head, Hon Janet Museveni have called upon teachers and learners above 18 years of age, to go for COVID-19 vaccination jab.
The vaccination call was unveiled today following engagements between the education and health ministries to align efforts towards getting teachers and learners vaccinated to control the spread of covid-19 when schools are reopened.
“Getting our teaching staff and learners vaccinated is first and foremost for their own personal wellbeing and safety. As you all know, delivery of learning is a highly interactive physical process in the context of our country.” Hon Janet said.
The first lady reiterated the President’s conditions if schools are to be reopened for physical learning including having a sizeable number of learners, teachers, and non-teaching staff receiving at least one jab.
Meanwhile for learners between 12-16 years, Hon Janet says the health ministry shall inform the public once COVID-19 vaccines that are approved for the age range have become available.
