Reliable information coming in from the corridors of the Ministry of Education and sports indicates that the Ministry’s technical team is headed for two back to back meetings ahead of expected school reopening this week.
This campus news website has established that the education ministry technical team management committee is scheduled to hold a “very important” meeting tomorrow Wednesday 27th January regarding the decision to reopen schools.
The meeting will be chaired by the Ministry’s permanent secretary Alex Kazoora after which Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports will chair the final meeting on Thursday, 28th January. Our snoops have further established that Mrs Museveni will announce the decision reached after the meeting.
According to the revised timetable released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), senior four candidates will sit for their final exams from 1st March to April 6 while P.7 candidates will do theirs on March 3oth and 31st.
Despite the high hopes amongst both university students and lower education scholars, the Ministry of Health has advised against reopening schools for all students before they are vaccinated against COVID-19.
“We are holding consultations with all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health on reopening. Time is running out and we need to finalise this exercise as soon as possible.” Said Ismail Mulindwa, the Health Ministry’s Chairperson of the COVD-19 task force.
Ahead of the meeting, universities like Makerere, Kyambogo, MUBS among others have already announced tentative dates for resumption of studies.
