It has been confirmed that the four students involved in a boat cruise accident on Sunday evening in Jinja that claimed the life of Mubs Finalist Julie Nambatya are all safe and sound but in grief and shock.

The visibly beaten down students were found by friends and family after the horrific accident on Sunday evening and reported to Jinja Police post.

On Sunday evening, social media was abuzz by the news of the passing on of Julie Nambatya, a third year student of Bachelors of Business Administration (majoring in finance) enroute to the hospital following a boat cruise accident in Jinja.

Julie and her friends left Campus on Friday evening for a weekend getaway to have fun and relax. Unfortunately on Sunday, the boat on which they were sailing capsized and Julie’s life jacket went off and she drowned. She was rescued by the life saver but died on the way to hospital.

Julie will be laid to rest today at her ancestral home in Masaka. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of the deceased and pray that God strengthens them in this trying time. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
