The faculty of Law at Cavendish University on Saturday morning hosted Justice George Kanyeihamba for a “Premier Conversation with the students”. The well-attended event took place at the Cavendish University Law Faculty Kamwokya.
The conversation was held under the theme “Justice Kanyeihamba’s reflection on Uganda’s Constitutional History, Constitutionalism today and projections for the future.” Distinguished students, who also had tests that day attended the event geared up to bombard his Lordship with questions regarding Uganda’s judiciary.
The purpose of this event, the organizers say, was to offer the students a supervised, rigorous and disciplined opportunity to learn practical legal skills by individuals who are committed to teaching.
Justice George W. Kanyeihamba was appointed a member of the Supreme Court of Uganda in 1997 and retired in November 2009.
Previously, he served as minister of Commerce, Minister of Justice, and attorney general. He holds a Ph.D in law from the University of Warwick. In 2008, Warwick awarded him an honorary LLD.
