Asinja Derrick, a second year Engineering Student at South Western Kigezi based Kabale University was on Thursday 19th beaten by unknown people around 5am in Nyakambu Zone, Kabale Municipality, good enough he survived but with serious injuries that almost cost him his life.
He was saved by a friend who was going for lectures that rushed him to the nearby hospital and later on to Kabale Hospital where he is nursing wounds now. It is said that Derrick is on the University Athletic’s team and this incident found him jogging to keep his fitness. Quick recovery Derrick.
The rate at which University students are being attacked by unknown people due to various reasons is alarming and this has caused fear among students to the extent that many have abandoned their night academic discussions because of the fear to be attacked on their way back to hostels.
Just the other day, a student at the Law Development Centre (LDC) was strangled to death by unknown people in Kagugube near Makerere University.
