The Kenyatta University community is mourning the loss of two renown lecturers ; Prof Agnes Gathumbi and Dr Isaac Mwangi who were among the 157 passengers that perished in Sunday’s Ethiopian Airlines crash.
Various stakeholders in the Education sector of both Kenya and other countries have taken it to social media to mourn the demise of the two lecturers. In Uganda, Makerere University has also joined the mourners through their social media platforms.
“We extend condolences to Kenyatta University on the loss of Prof. Agnes Gathumbi and Dr. Isaac Mwangi who were among the 157 passengers that perished in the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 302, which crashed on its way to Nairobi on 10th March 2019. May their souls rest in peace.” A post on Makerere’s Facebook page reads.
Kenya’s nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura also took to social media to reveal that the two lectuers were part of the team that taught him while at Kenyatta University
”Condolences to the families of all those who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash today. Dr. Agnes Gathumbi who was my lecturer in KU, Brigadier George Kabugi of KAA (in the picture shaking hands) and Juliet Otieno (2nd photo, 2nd left), Ag HR Manager at KAA. @KenyaAirports,” Mwaura wrote.
