Kampala International University (KIU) marked its 30th graduation ceremony today at its main campus.
According to the Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammed Ngoma, a total of 2276 students receiving their degrees and of these, 1260 were female graduands.
The university also celebrated the exceptional performance of 38 students who achieved first-class degrees.
Ms. Mugoya Clair Kitu emerged as the overall best performer, achieving a remarkable CGPA of 4.80 out of 5.00 in her Bachelor of Guidance and Counselling program. She was also recognized as the best student in the Humanities faculty.
Speaking at the ceremony, Guest of Honor Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister of ICT and National Guidance emphasized government’s commitment to supporting innovation.
“We welcome you to the world of work. The government is doing what it takes to create employment for the youth,” he said.
The event was attended by notable figures in Uganda’s education sector, including Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera, Former Chancellor of Makerere University, Al-Hajj Dr. Hassan Basajjabalaba, Chairman of KIU’s Board of Trustees, and Rev. Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni of West Ankole Diocese.
