A newly enrolled student at Kampala International University (KIU), identified as Kairu Patricia, has been found dead after reportedly going missing for 10 days.
Patricia, who had recently enrolled at KIU, reportedly left her hostel in Kansanga but never returned, leaving her family and friends searching for her.
According to a social media post by her friend Makana Kennedy Ndyamuhaki, the family only learnt that Patricia had died after her photograph was shared on TikTok.
“Her name was Kairu Patricia, a dear friend of mine and a newly enrolled student at KIU. She had been missing for 10 days, four of which her body had spent at Mulago,” Ndyamuhaki wrote.
Her body was reportedly discovered in Nabbingo, although the circumstances surrounding how she ended up there remain unclear.
A separate social media post circulating online alleges that Patricia was raped, killed and dumped at an unfinished building in Nabbingo’s Bataka Lane.
However, these allegations have not been independently verified by Campus Bee, and details surrounding the circumstances of her death remain subject to investigations.
Friend appeals for justice
Ndyamuhaki described Patricia’s death as devastating, saying questions surrounding her disappearance may be difficult to answer.
“Today, Patricia will be laid to rest in Buyende District,” he said, while appealing to the authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and bring those responsible to justice.
He specifically called on security authorities, including the Uganda Police Force, to help establish what happened to the young student.
“May the full weight of the law find those who took away a life that still had so much ahead of it,” Ndyamuhaki said.
Patricia was reportedly laid to rest in Buyende District on Wednesday.
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance from Kansanga, her movement to Nabbingo and her subsequent death remain unclear.
Campus Bee understands that further details are expected as investigations into the case continue.
