Bizarre news coming in indicates that Police in Mbarara have summoned Isingiro LC5 Chairman, Jeremiah Kamurari for allegedly luring a 21-year old Patricia Katushabe into a lodge and tried force himself on her, Campus Bee has learnt.
Katushabe, a Kampala International University (KIU) student escaped before being raped by Kamurari, according to the area’s Police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira. According to Kasasira, Katushabe reported the matter last week on Wednesday.
Apparently, Katushabe reached out to the chairman for help when she needed his signature and stamp on her recommendation documents.
“The victim had called the chairperson on phone the previous day and the chairperson directed her to find him in Mbararatown,” Kasasira said.
“On Wednesday the victim came to meet the chairperson for the stamp. They met at Stanbic Bank where the chairperson told the victim to sit in a vehicle and they go for stamp.” Added Kasasira.
“The suspect drove up to a lodge in Ruharo, took a victim to room where he attempted to rape her from. The victim managed to run away from the suspect and was rescued by the people outside the lodge who brought her to Mbarara Police Station and reported.” Kasasira further revealed.
Campus Bee has further learnt that Kamurari has been summoned to Police to record a statement regarding the accusations.
