In a recent incident reported to the Kanyanya Police on February 3rd, 2024, Ms. Namasere Winnie, aged 25 and a resident of Kyebando Central Zone, raised concerns regarding her missing household items, allegedly taken without permission by her boyfriend, Mr. Lukyamuzi Timothy, aged 26.
According to Ms. Winnie’s account, she had temporarily left their shared residence in February 2024 due to domestic issues and sought refuge at her sister’s residence, Nakasita Evelyn, located in Namavundu Gayaza, Wakiso District.
Ms. Winnie recounted receiving a distressing call from Mr. Timothy on February 3rd, 2024, around 1 PM, informing her that he had relocated their belongings to an undisclosed location following an eviction notice from their landlord. Despite numerous attempts to contact Mr. Timothy, he remained unreachable, prompting Ms. Winnie to report the incident to the police, citing domestic violence and theft.
In response to the complaint, Mr. Timothy voluntarily presented himself to the authorities and provided his statement, refuting any allegations of theft. He clarified that he had transferred the belongings to his sister’s workplace for safekeeping while he actively sought alternative housing arrangements. With Mr. Timothy’s cooperation, the police were able to recover the missing items from his sister’s workplace.
Following thorough investigation and dialogue facilitated by the authorities, both parties have reached a mutual agreement to temporarily separate their belongings as they endeavor to resolve their domestic issues amicably.
ASP Lukowoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the resolution of the dispute, underscoring the importance of peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms in addressing domestic matters. The swift intervention of the police not only facilitated the retrieval of the allegedly missing items but also paved the way for constructive dialogue between the involved parties.
