The Office of the Electoral Commission at Kyambogo University has set Friday, 10th November 2023 as the date for all elected leaders to swear in.
According to the EC Chairperson Byaruhanga Simon Peter, the function will held in CTF 105 from 01:30PM to 05:00PM.
Kyambogo Guild President elect Mwebesa Reagan will officially take on the instruments of power on that day.
The Guild elections were conducted on 26th and 27th October, 2023. Accordingly, the first GRC meeting was held on 31 October 2023, where the GRC sworn in and the Guild President appointed the Executive.
In a hotly contested guild presidency, Democratic Party youthful wing commonly known as Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) championed their own Mwebesa Reagan to defeat five candidates for the top seat.
Mwebesa Reagan was declared winner after gathering 3040 votes while NUP’s Nakayenga Samuel was the 1st runner up with 2757 votes.
Article 9 clause 9 (b) (1) states that “The Guild president and the Executive shall be Sworn in by the Vice Chancellor at the General Assembly at which the G.R.C members shall be recognized.
