This meant that these symbols don’t have to appear on ballot paper, poster, banners and other elements associated to the elections for both Guild Presidents and Guild Representative Councillors.
When this ban came into action, it meant that all posters and banners that had political symbols on them had to be abolished and new ones brought in.
In viral photos however, that have even been shared by People Power leader Bobi Wine, a group of NRM members is seen plucking offposters of John Mbaziira, a guild candidate and the official flag bearer of the pressure group.
They didn’t stop on this but even went an extra mile to put the posters of their candidate onto of the plucked People Power posters. This was done on 15th March, 2020 which was the last day of open campaigns at the institution.
And although the symbols were banned, posters of the NRM candidate still have the party sign. It should also be remembered that the guild elections which had been scheduled to take place today were postponed to Thursday 19th this same week due to unclear issues as at first they put the blame on the stationary contractor who had not delivered the ballots papers at that time.
