Police in Banda has arrested Ainomugishia Linnet, a girlfriend to Doribert Atwesige, an employee of National Water and Sewerage Corporation who was shot dead by the security guard of Kabojja hostel. Atwesige had on Sunday morning gone to visit Linnet at her hostel before his life was nipped in the bud by the askari after a heated argument.
According to Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the security guard, identified as Kiiza Alkanglo and Ainomugisha have been detained at Banda Police Station. Kiiza is detained on charges of murder and manslaughter and a case file SD/06/29/2019 has been opened.
Ainomugisha, a third year student of Kyambogo university, police say, has been detained to help Police with investigations.
Shortly after the fatal incident happend, the victim was picked and taken to Iran Uganda Medical Center in critical condition and was later announced dead. The suspect was arrested and his gun no. SR UG PSO 12085000-03817 was recovered with one live bullet.
This is not the first deadly shooting involving security guards. In July this year, Arnold Ainebyoona, one of the proprietors of the Hickory Bar was shot dead by a security guard of Quality Shopping Centre where he had gone shopping.
