Yesterday, Jinja East went to polls following a notification from the Clerk to Parliament that Jinja East constituency had fallen vacant after a court decision the 2016 election results cancelled.
We earlier this month brought you an exclusive interview of Mugaya Paul, the Kyambogo Student who was vying for the Jinja East MP Seat. And as the biggest campus news web portal in Uganda, we are proud to authoritatively report that Mugaya managed to stage an outstanding performance in the polls after he came fourth among the eight contestants that were vying for the seat.
FDC’s Mwiiru Paul who emerged winner with 6654 votes, NRM’s Nathan Igeme Nabeeta who scooped 5043 votes, independent Mayemba Faisal Masaba polled 117 votes and PPP’s Mugaya Paul took on the 4th position after garnering 48 votes followed by 4 other candidates all who were independent.
After the polls Mugaya took to his social media and congratulated FDC’s Paul Mwiru who emerged winner of the election and thanked his voters for the genuine support.

Who Is Paul Mugaya?
Mugaya Paul Geraldson, a third year student at Kyambogo University pursuing a Bachelors egree in social works and community development . Mugaya was born in Masese, Walukuba East parish Jinja district. He went to Walukuba East Primary School, Main Street Primary school all in Jinja district and did his Primary Seven at Iganga Boy’s boarding School in 2008.
He attended Seroma Christian High School for his O’level and sat for his A ‘level at St Mary’s SS Kitende (SMASK). In his vacation, he took up a course in good governance, accountability and leadership in Nairobi
