A Kyambogo University student, Marvin Ogwal won The 19th Chinese Bridge Speech competition on Saturday held by Makerere University’s Confucius Institute.

Having taken place online, the 19th Speech competition becomes the first ever to be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic in place.

Gordon Bukenya, another student emerged runner-up of  this virtually held competition.

The Competition which has happened over the years, is aimed at promoting talent for Foreign Associate Students in Uganda

The director of the Confucius institute, Gilbert Gumoshabe said this year’s competition was faced with challenges of restricted physical interaction.

“We missed training the competitors face to face and we shall miss seeing them physically, though we shall still see them anyway via this online platform,” Gumoshabe said.
